HandBrake wandeln Sie Videos die Sie beispielsweise von einer nicht kopiergeschützten DVD kopiert, oder von Youtube heruntergeladen haben in ein anderes Format Ihrer Wahl um. So können über sogenannte Presets Videos in das richtige Format für iPhone, iPod, iPad oder für Android Smartphone codiert werden. Außerdem ermöglicht die Software ein konvertieren von Videos in das Xvid oder MP4-Format. Mit der Bitrate, Bildgröße und dem Audioformat haben Sie außerdem noch Einfluss auf die Ausgabegröße der zu erstellenden Datei. Bei der Bitrate können Sie noch wählen ob Sie eine konstante oder eine variable Bitrate bevorzugen.
Videos von kopiergeschützten DVD's und Blu-Rays lassen sich nicht konvertieren, dies wäre ohnehin illegal. Die Software ist für Windows, Mac und Linux erhältlich. Hier nochmals der Link zum Download:

HandBrake you can convert videos that you copied from a non-copy protected DVD, or downloaded from YouTube in a different format of your choice. So-called presets help you to choose the correct video codec for iPhone, iPod, iPad or Android smartphones. In addition, the software allows one to convert videos to Xvid or MP4 format. You can also influence the bit rate, frame size and audio format and therefore the size of the outpufile. You can even choose whether you prefer constant or variable bitrate.
